Beginning Freshwater Flyfishing |
|
Freshwater StreamcraftThe club conducts a freshwater streamcraft weekend at Oberon to introduce beginners to stream fly fishing, its entomology, where fish lie, and techniques necessary to fish the streams. Freshwater Fly TyingAn essential ingredient in freshwater flyfishing is the flies and once a month there are fly tying sessions where you will learn to tie all the flies necessary for flyfishing rivers and lakes. Club Speakers The club regularly has speakers talking at the monthly meetings with good information on freshwater flyfishing, so come to a meeting, become a member and find out all the good information. Competition There is nothing quite like a little competition to hone the skills, so the Club has a freshwater competition, in the Blue Mountains. This is really a great event where you will team up with an experienced fly fisher and have an exciting time. Casting The club castmaster is at every club meeting to give individual casting tuition on the oval before the meeting starts. Many members new and old make good use of this facility to improve their casting skills. In addition the club also runs an accuracy casting session once a month to improve the accuracy of your casting so that you can put the fly just where you want to. |
