Don’t miss out on a Saturday morn- ing’s fly fishing outing on beautiful Sydney Harbour on 13 February 10 April 2010. There’ll be a high tide about 9 AM, just perfect for chasing kingfish, tailor and anything else that’s around. Our plan is to be on the water early in the morning and fin- ish off with a BBQ lunch at the Syd- ney Game Fishing Club on the wharf at Watsons Bay. Special thanks go to Otto of Otto’s Tackle World in Drummoyne, who has gen- erously arranged access to Sydney Game Fishing Club facilities for us.

The aim of the day is to get our members to have a fish in the har- bour on that day, as well as introduce as many members as we can to the joys of boat based salt water fly fishing. We need people with boats as well as passengers. Don’t be put off if you haven’t got a boat or have not done any boat based fly fishing, this will be the ideal oppor- tunity to see what it’s like.

Mid to late summer is an ideal time for fly fishing on Sydney Harbour with the opportunity of encountering among others kingfish, tailor, bonito and flathead. Between now and then, get your fly tying gear out and start tying those chartreuse on white and grey on white clousers, eye flies and poppers – I’ve been told they work like a charm. Those who participated on the 5 Decem- ber outing had a great time and I’m looking forward to the February outing being better.
