The Member Directory is only available to logged in members and is accessible from the MEMBERS menu option. Use the Member Directory to see a list of other members, search for members, and view their profiles. The Member Directory displays your first name and surname and optionally your phone number. By default, when you join the Club, your phone number is not shown in the Member Directory. You may alter your privacy setting so that the phone number is displayed in the directory. You may also choose not to appear in the Member Directory; also see privacy setting. To view a member's Profile, click on the member in the Member Directory list, and if the member has allowed for their Profile details to be shown to other members - see privacy settings to restrict or allow other members seeing your Profile - that member's Profile will be shown. In addition, you may use privacy settings to limit what of your personal details are shown. In the following, the member has chosen to only show his names and mobile phone number; he could have also shown all his address or only parts of his address, for example, suburb. If the member has allowed to be messaged (refer privacy settings), the SEND MESSAGE button will be visible. Click the SEND MESSAGE button and the SEND MESSAGE form is displayed. Compose your message and send it to the member. The message will be sent as a normal email using the email address the member has recorded with the Club. At this point if you no longer want to continue sending the message, as there is a know issue with exiting the SEND MESSAGE form (see Know issues), the best option to exit is to select any of the menu options in the top horizontal menu. After you have sent the message, a message sent confirmation screen is displayed. At this point it is strongly recommended you do not click the BACK TO PROFILE button, the Back link (top-left-hand corner) or the browser's back arrow as there is a know issue (see Known issues). Rather to continue using the website, select any of the menu options in the top horizontal menu. There are two important points to note about email addresses in this process. Firstly, when you send a member a message, the member’s email address is not shown to you in the SEND MESSAGE form. Similarly, when someone prepares a message to send to you, the email address you have recorded with the Club is not shown to them. Secondly, when you message a member, the email address you have recorded with the Club is included in the email as the reply-to email address. It is visible to the member when they receive the email. If you do not want the member to have knowledge of the email address you have recorded with the Club, you have the opportunity in the SEND MESSAGE form to provide an alternative email address – see the above image and refer to the field “Reply email”. |
To see your privacy settings, click the Privacy link within your member Profile and the Privacy tab will be shown. The above image gives the default privacy settings for new members and members who have been migrated from the old website. An explanation of the default settings is as follows:
To change your privacy settings, click the EDIT PROFILE button; the To stop being listed in the Member Directory and stop other members seeing your Member Profile, untick “Show profile to others” box. If you want to be listed in the Member Directory and allow members to see your Member Profile, tick “Show profile to others” box. If you don’t want members to send you a message, click the circle under the “No access” column for the row titled “Send message form”. If you have clicked the circle correctly, it will turn blue. To allow members to send you a message, click the circle under the “Members” column for the row titled “Send message form”. To change a privacy setting for other personal information, click the appropriate circle under the area headed “DETAILS TO SHOW”. In the following, the member has changed his privacy so that his email address and mobile phone will be displayed. Once you are finished changing your privacy settings, click the SAVE button. In regards to the Member Directory, you should note that:
It is important to note that though the settings in the Privacy tab indicate that your details can be viewed, if selected, by "Anybody", this is not true. The website has been designed by the Club so that no member's details are exposed to the public. |
From your Profile, you can choose whether you wish to receive emails from the Club, and if so, which kinds of emails you want to receive. When you join the Club, the default is that you will receive all emails from the Club that are sent via the website. Please do not change these email settings as important information will be forwarded to you via the website. To ensure all members are getting all emails, periodically, the Member Manager will review all Member's email settings and where necessary will reset changed settings to the defaults. The Club may also send you emails from other sources, for example, MailChimp, and whether you receive or don't receive the emails from other source cannot be changed from within your Profile. |
